Assemblywoman Smith Comments on Passage of HR 97: High Speed Rail
SACRAMENTO, CA — Assemblywoman Christy Smith (D-Santa Clarita) offered the following sentiments upon the passage of Assemblymember and Chair of the Assembly Transportation Committee's Jim Frazier (D-Fairfield)'s House Resolution (HR) 97::
"The California High Speed Rail Project is the largest infrastructure investment in state history. It was presented to voters as a critical link between population centers up and down our state. It has not lived up to that promise to those who voted on Proposition 1A in 2008. I am a proud co-author of this measure which received wide bipartisan support and demands greater legislative oversight over this project. We must honor taxpayer dollars with fiscal responsibility, evaluate public concerns and investigate more solutions to the most expensive public works project."
Assemblywoman Christy Smith represents California's 38th Assembly District, which includes the communities of Santa Clarita, Simi Valley, Agua Dulce, Castaic, Santa Susana Knolls and North San Fernando Valley.
